I make music to give power to people like me. I sing to affirm and uplift my community. Being queer and non-binary, I get what it's like to miss the beauty of who you are because of being shamed for your sparkle.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, I taught myself to write and produce through samples and synths. I grew up singing gospel music in a culture that didn't want me to exist. From local bars to Carnegie Hall, I use my voice to inspire people to be visible, raise their voices, and shake their asses.
Through music, I am embracing what makes us sexy; what makes us complicated; what makes us fabulous! That's how we heal as individuals, as a community, and the communities we touch.
It's Habit Forming
My first single in four years, Habit Forming begins a new chapter in my artistic practice. I'm embarking on a quest to untangle shame from queerness, gender, sex, and desire. But we're gonna have a good time doing it.
The song was inspired by the warning label on my ADHD meds. It got me thinking, "What if this were a song about being d*ckmatized?"
The beat started on my phone and transformed into a sexy, Latin-infused tune. I hope it inspires (or soundtracks) some fantasies of your own.
